The one acre lush green campus has in-house design studios and facility center for artists, designers and creative individuals who are looking for such spaces to expand their creative realm. “Craft Village” is a unique state-of-art infrastructure, for facilitating hands on craft learning from masters and legends in their fields, linkages of craft community with international and national forums to promote “Rare Crafts of India”.

About Sualkuchi, Manchester of Assam

Sualkuchi is a census town in Kamrup district in the Indian state of Assam. It is situated on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra, about 35 km from Guwahati, Sualkuchi is a block of Kamrup District. It has large number of cottage industry engaged in handloom, for which it is also known as the "Manchester of Assam".

This is the textile center of Assam. Muga silk and Pat silk along with Eri silk and Endi cloth from this region is famous for its quality. Mekhela chadors and Gamosas made from this indigenous materials is in demand throughout Assam as well as other parts of India. It's registered trademark is SUALKUCHI'S.

About Muga Silk

Today Muga silk is preserved and promoted with a Geographical Indication tag (GI) obtained in 2006. Muga silk is a variety of wild silk geographically tagged to the state of Assam in India. The silk is known for its extreme durability and has a natural yellowish-golden tint with a shimmering,glossy texture. It was previously reserved for the use of royalty.
